I use Nike+ with GPS to track my miles. We had a big storm not long after the bike trail opened. This nice tree fell at my one mile mark.
These pics are from yesterday, it's storming and raining here today. This is my view on the bike trail behind my house, as you can see the trees are finally starting to bud. It's been a long cold winter here and not much of a spring. The second pic is of my walking buddy.Breezyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14192361410715408690noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5700033274453558947.post-57977778948295235952014-05-06T07:25:00.000-07:002014-05-08T12:19:10.703-07:00Fitness Photo ChallengeOK Michelle!!!

I'm joining the fitness photo challenge that my dear friend Michelle posted about here.

My fitness goals are two-fold to get back in shape and to de-stress. We have a lot going on in our house right now, with DBF's newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes and DD graduating.

I'm already in a 10k step challenge with some wonderful friends and have averaged 66,000 steps a week. So now I challenge myself to 560,0000 steps for this 8 week challenge.

If you'd like to join us, check out As My Camera Sees It for the details.

I'll upload a pic tonight after work for my weekly Monday pic, it will just be a day late.
I've tried WW again, I tried counting calories, clean eating too, I can't lose weight. My weight has topped at 142 and there I sit, gaining and losing the same 2 pounds over and over again. Why?!?!?!

I read today that I should be doing weight lifting or strength training to lose weight, cardio won't do it. Maybe?

So I'm back to this blog. Back and hoping to glean something from the person I was back in 2008, the skinny and in shape Breezy.Breezyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14192361410715408690noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5700033274453558947.post-90321451367179887712012-09-18T08:47:00.002-07:002012-09-18T08:47:39.834-07:00Crock Pot MinestroneFrom SkinnyTaste, made it Sunday and froze for lunches.

1/4 cup flour (to make gluten-free use 2 tbsp cornstarch instead)

2 cups water

4 cups fat free milk

1 large celery stalk, chopped

1/2 medium chopped onion

8 oz sliced baby portabella mushrooms

2 chicken bouillons

fresh ground pepper
Create a slurry by combining 1/2 cup of the cold water with flour in a medium bowl and whisk until well blended. Set aside.

Pour remaining water and milk into a large pot and slowly bring to a boil. Add celery, onion, mushrooms, chicken bullion, thyme, fresh pepper, frozen vegetables and return to a boil. Partially cover and simmer on low until vegetables are soft, about 20 minutes. Remove lid, add potatoes and cook until soft, about 5 minutes. Add chicken, and slowly whisk in slurry, stirring well as you add. Cook another 2-3 minutes, until soup thickens, adjust salt and pepper to taste and serve.Breezyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14192361410715408690noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5700033274453558947.post-6680987163569786992012-02-15T05:58:00.000-08:002012-02-15T05:58:23.164-08:00Tea is not for me, I guessSo starting SFT today and have to give up my chai latte mix.
I think I eat mainly power foods already, but may to have to change a few things.

Yum, I'm guessing this would taste alot like the Hawaiin chicken meatballs we had for dinner tonight. I will be making these with ground venison.

Individual Pineapple Meatloaves

1 lb ground beef, 93% lean
1 egg, beaten
½ c quick cooking rolled oats
½ c onions finely chopped
½ cup green pepper, finely chopped
¼ tsp salt
8 oz Dole canned crushed pineapple in juice, drained
6 Tbsp barbecue sauce

Preheat oven to 350ºF.

In a large mixing bowl, stir together egg, oats, onion, green pepper and salt. Add beef and pineapple; mix well.

Divide mixture into 6 equal portions. Shape each portion into a 4x2-inch loaf.
Place loaves in a 13x9x2-inch pan.

Bake uncovered for 30 to 35 minutes or until meat is no longer pink. Top each loaf with 1 teaspoon of the barbecue sauce.Breezyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14192361410715408690noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5700033274453558947.post-30345983149978134802012-01-16T06:25:00.000-08:002012-01-16T06:25:24.559-08:00Easy Workday Oatmeal in a JarLove Pinterest. I'm getting a rotesierre chicken tonight for supper, tonight I will NOT toss out the carcass.

1 chicken carcass
2 carrots
3 celery stalks
1 onion
1 bay leaf
1 teaspoon dried thyme, basil and/or sage
1 teaspoon whole peppercorns

Directions
Break some of the chicken bones.
Chop (no need to peel) the carrots into large chunks.
Chop the celery and the onion as well.
Put all the ingredients in a slow cooker. Any size will do, but preferably at least 4 quarts.
Fill the crockpot 3/4 full with water, cover, then set for 10 hours on low.
After 10 hours, add salt if you wish, then turn the crockpot off and let the broth cool for half an hour.
Strain out the meat and vegetables and discard them.
Chill the stock in the fridge overnight and skim off the fat.
Put the stock in baggies, label with date and amount, then freeze.

I will let this cook over night and then chill it tomorrow for fat skimmage. ewwwww LOL So by tomorrow night I should have nice freezer portions of fat free chicken broth to use in recipes instead of spending over $1 a can right now.Breezyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14192361410715408690noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5700033274453558947.post-1687858931801646322010-02-01T04:55:00.000-08:002010-02-01T05:03:21.134-08:00Gooey Pork ChopsThese were good.
